a place of love and beauty

I can't believe it's been almost a month since I've received my call! Every day I am reminded just how right Winnipeg is for me. I feel like I've known I would be serving in Canada for forever, but it's crazy to think how just a month ago I had absolutely no idea where The Lord would send me. I feared that once the anticipation was over and I knew where I was going, that the excitement would wear off. Well, I've experienced the exact opposite. I am more thrilled now that I can imagine myself in Winnipeg and finally get a glimpse of what I will be dealing with:)

This past week, I had the opportunity to have lunch with former mission presidents from Winnipeg and they taught me SO much! I know things will probably be a little different considering my mission president will do things his own way, but just to get a gist of what it's like? Incredible. I was so grateful they were kind enough to sit down for a few hours and tell me all about those three years they spent in "the coldest place in the world!" Turns out, the President wouldn't let the missionaries go outside if it was 40 below. THAT'S HOW COLD IT HAD TO BE FOR THEM TO STAY INSIDE. But I mean, 35 below??... you're fine! I couldn't believe it! Meeting them and hearing all of their great stories made me so excited to finally be a missionary!

At the end of this month, I will have the sacred privilege of going through the temple and receiving my endowment for the first time. To say I'm excited would be an understatement. I've had my temple recommend signed and ready to go for a few weeks now, (now it's just a matter of when all of my family could be there)and I can't believe the difference just obtaining a recommend has made! I now know why the general authorities urge everyone to be worthy of a temple recommend. Even if you're nowhere near a temple, just knowing that you are worthy to be in such a sacred place will bring blessings.

President James E. Faust once said: "I urge all who have not yet received these greatest of all blessings within the walls of the temple to do whatever may be necessary to qualify for them."

"There, in the house of The Lord, you can learn what you need to know to be truly free. There, tucked away from turmoil and strife, is the chance to be totally unselfish- a rarity in today's world." I am so grateful for the temple and know that the blessings are real. I can't wait for the opportunity to receive my endowment in just a few days. Heavenly Father is just waiting to bless us. Let Him in and you'd be amazed at how much He loves you.
